FAQs
Quick answers about Zillo, shipping in NZ and AU, care, and whether it is a medical treatment.
How is Zillo different from a classic U-shaped travel pillow?
Classic U-pillows cradle the neck but leave the upper back unsupported, so the head still nods and the neck still strains. Zillo adds a curved upper-back piece that sits between the shoulder blades to encourage a more upright posture, plus a contoured collar for the neck. It was designed in New Zealand by osteopath Andrew Bolton.
Can I use Zillo if I side-sleep or lean to one side in my seat?
Yes. The collar is contoured to support the neck when you lean, and the upper-back piece helps keep your torso from collapsing forward. Fit is adjustable, so you can snug it for the way you actually sit on a flight.
Is Zillo suitable for long-haul flights?
Yes. That is what it is built for: long sits where a classic U-pillow lets your head drop. At 340g it is light enough for a cabin bag, and the upper-back support is there for hours, not just a short nap.
How do I wash Zillo?
Follow the care label on your pillow. Use a gentle cycle or hand wash, and let it dry fully before packing it away. If you are unsure, email us with a photo of the care label and we will confirm.
What size is it, and will it fit in a cabin bag?
About 29 cm long, 8 cm at the neck/collar, and up to about 62 cm around. Weight is 340g. It packs into a cabin bag without taking a whole compartment.
Do you ship to New Zealand and Australia?
Yes. Zillo is dispatched from New Zealand with free shipping to NZ and AU.
What is your returns policy?
If the product is defective or damaged, you have 30 days to send it back for a full refund of the original purchase. You ship it back at your own expense; include your name and order number on the parcel. If the order is still in transit, wait until it arrives before returning it. You can cancel at no charge before it ships.
Who designed Zillo?
Andrew Bolton, a New Zealand osteopath. His work includes research published in the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine and sports consults. He designed Zillo to support the upper back and neck in a seated travel posture, not just pad the neck.
Do you sell anything else for long flights?
Yes. Explorer compression socks (15–20 mmHg) in M, L, and XL, for long sits where legs swell. They are a separate product from the pillow.
Can Zillo help with neck pain or poor posture when travelling?
Zillo is designed to support a more upright seated posture by bracing the upper back and cradling the neck. It is not a medical device and is not a treatment for neck pain, back pain, or any medical condition. If you have an injury or diagnosis, talk to your clinician before you fly with it.
